What is on Noorani Qaida in English page 12?

This page contains practice words and the standing Fatha, standing Kasra and inverted Damma. Takhti 6 is the first real reading practice. Letters with Harakat and Tanween are joined into short words, so the student starts reading whole words smoothly instead of single sounds. Takhti 7 teaches the standing vowels: the standing Fatha (Khara Zabar), standing Kasra (Khari Zer) and inverted Damma (Ulta Pesh). Each one lengthens the vowel to two counts, the same length as a letter of Madd.

How to practise page 12

  1. Spell each word first, then read it in one breath.
  2. Read every line twice: once slowly, once at normal speed.
  3. Hold every standing vowel for two counts: baa, bee, boo.
  4. Compare a normal vowel and a standing vowel on the same letter.

Common mistakes on this page

  • Memorising the line order instead of actually reading.
  • Reading the standing Fatha as a short vowel.
